Caroline Baerten, MA, RD
Background Caroline Baerten is a psycho and traumatherapist, nutritionist and chef-sommelier. Since 2008, she has been actively involved in raising awareness of what, why and how we eat for public health. She is among the first mindfulness and mindful eating trainers worldwide and serves on the advisory board of The Center for Mindful Eating in United States.
In a clinical one-to-one setting, she offer skills for those who struggle with food (and mood) issues, all kinds of addiction and stress-related behaviour.
Her mission is to introduce people to the wealth of tastfull and nutritious foods originated from respectful and regenerative agriculture. Health starts with caring for our precious soils, foods and bodies. Besides this work she also wants to raise awareness for mental health issues within hospitality. Studies in the UK show that within hospitality 4 out of 5 experience a period of poor mental health within their lifetime due to the stress and pressures that working within this industry can cause. Her aim is to break the stigma and offer solutions through specialized programs. |
Her meditation background encompasses a wide field of experiences in both Burmese Vipassana tradition, Japanese Zen Buddhism (Great Vow Zen led by Chozen and Hogen, Roshi. Portland, OR) and Tibetan Buddhism (under guidance of Daniel Brown, PhD). For years she was also a student of zenteacher Thich Nhat Hanh. Her last 5-day retreat 'Cleaning the House' was developed by long durational performer Marina Abramovich to master the beauty of life.
Caroline serves at the Advisory Council at The Center for Mindful Eating in United States and Louvain Mindfulness Center
One of her pleasures is writing blog posts about conscious eating, food justice and ecology for the ME-CL website and TCME
